How much suction does the XY457 apply, and is it safe for newborns?
The low-pressure rubber bulb is designed for gentle suction (< 30 cmH₂O) that will not traumatise a neonate's nasal mucosa, and the flexible F4–F6 silicone tip lowers the risk of injury.
Does it need to be sterilised between uses on the same patient?
No — it is single use. Reuse and re-sterilisation are not recommended; use a new device for each suctioning procedure to keep it sterile and avoid recontamination.
Is the XY457 latex-free and BPA-free?
The silicone tip is latex-free and the device is manufactured without BPA, making it safe for term and pre-term neonates. For a fully latex-free option in suspected latex allergy, use a complete silicone device.
