Buying guide — OB/GYN

The three balloons in this category share a principle and differ by obstetric moment: the cervical ripening balloon prepares labour, the postpartum haemostasis balloon stops bleeding after it, and the uterine stent balloon keeps the cavity open after surgery. Volume, pressure and shape are sized to each moment and never substitute for one another. We supply all three to distributors serving obstetrics and gynaecology units, with each one's buying logic explained on its page.

What to verify before buying

  • Three balloons, three moments: ripening (80 ml double balloon) · postpartum haemostasis (500 ml) · uterine cavity (3–4 ml)
  • The haemostasis balloon is bought to be on hand, not to be used — obstetric emergency stock
  • Volume and shape are not interchangeable — a bare “uterine balloon” order line is ambiguous
  • Ripening balloon with or without stylet — confirm your unit's technique
  • EO sterilisation and ISO 13485 lot traceability; no clinical claims

Three balloons that do not substitute

Postpartum haemostasis24 Fr × 55 cm500 mlAfter labour — emergency tamponade

The classic ordering error in this family is “uterine balloon” without a surname. All three live in uteri; none does another's job. Each page carries its own volume logic and its specific buying question.

Frequently asked questions — OB/GYN

Why is the postpartum balloon bought “not to be used”?

It is emergency stock: postpartum haemorrhage gives no notice and the balloon must be in the room before it happens. Sizing follows births per year and replacement protocol, not historic consumption — a unit that used many last year does not expect a repeat.

Does the ripening double balloon come with a stylet?

Made with and without an inner stylet. Each unit's technique decides; confirm before fixing the order, because the placement gesture changes.

What documentation do you provide?

Technical file, manufacturer ISO 13485 and per-batch sterilisation; finished-device registration is handled by the distributor in the destination country.
