Frequently Asked Questions — Precision Micro-Drip IV Infusion Set
When do you use a micro-drip instead of a macro-drip set?
The micro-drip (60 drops/ml) is used when the volume must be controlled precisely — in paediatrics, neonates and for critical drugs such as insulin, heparin and vasopressors. The macro-drip (usually 20 drops/ml) is for adults and higher volumes. With a 60 gtt/ml set, the micro-drops per minute equal the ml per hour, which simplifies the calculation.
How do you calculate the drip rate with this set?
Drops per minute = (volume in ml × drop factor) ÷ time in minutes. With this 60 drops/ml set, 100 ml over 2 hours is (100 × 60) ÷ 120 = 50 micro-drops/min. See our guide on changing the IV set and calculating the drip rate for worked examples.
Is a DEHP-free version available?
Yes. A DEHP-free PVC version is available on request, which is often required for paediatrics, neonatology, oncology and many public tenders. The set is latex-free and EO sterilised, with lot traceability.
Is a burette (volume-control) version available?
Yes. A burette / volume-control version (typically a 100–150 ml graduated chamber) is available for tightly controlled paediatric volumes, and the set can be supplied vented or non-vented to match rigid or collapsible containers.

Full Description — Precision Micro-Drip IV Infusion Set
Edaochi Medical's precision micro-drip infusion set is built for situations where the volume delivered has to be exact. Its micro-drip chamber meters 60 drops per millilitre, giving fine control over small volumes — the kind needed for insulin, heparin, vasopressors and sedatives, and for neonatal and paediatric patients.
Precision where it counts
A built-in 15µm particle filter protects the patient from particulate matter, and the millimetric roller-wheel regulator holds the set rate without "creeping". Because a 60 gtt/ml set makes micro-drops per minute equal to ml per hour, manual gravity calculations are straightforward when a pump is not used.
Compatibility and safety
A standard Luer-lock connection mates with needle-free connectors, three-way stopcocks and extension lines. A DEHP-free PVC version is available on request — a common requirement in neonatology, oncology and public tenders. The set is latex-free and EO sterilised.
Clinical use
- Critical-drug infusions (insulin, heparin, vasopressors, sedatives) - Neonatology and paediatrics, where small volumes must be exact - ICU and emergency room - Any high-precision gravity infusion
