Needle-Free Y Injection Site / Needleless Connector
Needle-free (needleless) connector for intravenous therapy systems. It provides a closed, secure access point to inject medication, flush the line, draw blood samples, alternate infusions and give multiple drugs — all without a needle, reducing the risk of needlestick injury and catheter-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI). Available across one product family: Y injection site, three-way stopcock and 3-way manifold for multi-access in the ICU. The high-pressure version is validated for contrast-media injection in CT, MRI, angiography and DSA. Standard Luer-lock connectors, latex-free and DEHP-free. EO sterilised.

Frequently Asked Questions — Needle-Free Y Injection Site / Needleless Connector
How does a needle-free connector reduce infection risk?
It keeps the IV line a closed system: every access is made through a swabbable septum instead of opening the line, so there is no needle and far less chance of contamination reaching the bloodstream. Disinfecting the septum with 70% isopropyl alcohol or chlorhexidine before each access (scrub the hub) is what makes it effective at lowering catheter-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI).
What is the difference between the Y site, the stopcock and the manifold?
The Y injection site adds a single side access port to a line. The three-way stopcock lets you direct flow between the patient, the infusion and a syringe with a turn of the handle. The 3-way manifold groups several stopcocks together for multi-drug access in the ICU. All three belong to the same Luer-lock family.
Can this connector be used for contrast injection in CT or MRI?
The high-pressure version of the family is validated for power contrast injection in CT, MRI, angiography and DSA. The setup is contrast injector → high-pressure extension line → Y connector → patient. Use the standard version for routine infusion and the high-pressure version where a power injector is involved.
How often should the needle-free connector be changed?
It is changed together with the administration set — generally every 4 to 7 days, every 24 h with lipids or blood products, and immediately if it is disconnected, left with blood residue or contamination is suspected. See our needle-free connector change-and-disinfection guide for the full protocol.

Full Description — Needle-Free Y Injection Site / Needleless Connector
Edaochi Medical's needle-free connector (needleless connector) is a core consumable for any modern IV therapy programme. It creates a closed, swabbable access point on the intravenous line so clinicians can inject medication, flush the catheter, draw blood and switch between infusions without a needle — removing the needlestick hazard and cutting the route by which bacteria reach the bloodstream.
Why a closed system matters
Every time an open line is accessed, there is a chance for contamination. A needle-free connector replaces that open access with a sealed septum that is disinfected before each use, which is the single measure most associated with lower catheter-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI). The fluid path is designed to be flushed completely so blood residue and biofilm do not accumulate.
One family, several configurations
- Y injection site: a single side-access port for routine medication and flushing. - Three-way stopcock: directs flow between patient, infusion and syringe with a turn of the handle. - 3-way manifold: groups stopcocks for multi-drug access in the ICU. - High-pressure version: validated for power contrast injection in CT, MRI, angiography and DSA.
Compatibility and materials
Standard Luer-lock connectors mate with the vast majority of infusion sets, syringes and automatic injectors. The septum is compatible with 70% isopropyl alcohol and chlorhexidine swabbing for scrub-the-hub disinfection. Latex-free and DEHP-free, which is a frequent requirement in paediatrics, oncology and public tenders. EO sterilised and individually packed.
