What you buy when you buy a Bubble CPAP circuit
A Bubble CPAP system has two halves. The durable half is bought once by the hospital: air and oxygen source, blender with flow meter, and heated humidifier. The disposable half is used up with each patient: the inspiratory limb, the expiratory limb and, depending on configuration, the humidification chamber, relief valve and water generator.
The gas path runs: source → blender and flow meter → humidifier → inspiratory limb → nasal interface → expiratory limb → generator. Pressure is set by how deep the end of the expiratory limb sits in the generator's water, measured in cm H₂O. Flow is set by the flow meter.

Why there is no universal circuit: the 5 points
Every Bubble CPAP system maker designs its own connections. A circuit counts as compatible only when these five points match:

The photos and measurements to send your supplier
The review is done from photos. Ask the unit for (or send) the following:
- The current circuit's label, legible, with brand, model and lot.
- Each connector photographed next to a ruler or caliper, so the diameter can be read.
- The chamber mounted on the humidifier, and the humidifier's rating plate with its model.
- The heated-wire plug, if there is one, face on.
- The generator in use, with the pressure scale visible.
- The nasal interface in use and the sizes consumed most.
With that, the circuits can be compared measurement by measurement and what matches can be stated in writing before samples ship.
Which documents to ask for
Documentation for a Bubble CPAP circuit belongs to the model, not to the company. Ask for:
- The current certificate and the Declaration of Conformity for the quoted model. Check that the model number you are quoted sits within the document's scope.
- The datasheet and the instructions for use, which set the pressure and flow range, the patient population and the change interval.
- Sterility status and sterilisation method as stated on the label.
- Shelf life, storage conditions and packaging data (units per carton, carton size and weight) to plan freight.
An ISO 13485 certificate covers the manufacturer's quality system; it does not replace the product's own documentation.
