Why high durometer for monitoring lines?

What does the rotator end add?
Threading a fixed Luer makes the line turn with the nut and end up twisted; under pressure that torsion is a kink waiting to form. The rotator end decouples thread from line: the connection tightens and the tube stays at rest. A minor detail until a run is lost to a kink.

Why monitoring wants the stiff wall
