The PTFE wire is the generalist of vascular access: stainless steel core, polytetrafluoroethylene coating that cuts friction in needle, sheath and catheter, and the flexible-tip/supportive-body construction that defines access wires. Made in diameters from 0.021" to 0.038" and lengths from 50 to 300 cm, straight or J-tip with radii from 1.5 to 15 mm — J radius is a real specification: the small J enters fine vessels, the large one spreads contact in wide ones, and every unit has its house radius. It is the same wire family that travels inside our femoral introducer sets; this page is the loose reference for replenishment, for the buyer's own kits, and for the sizes the sets do not include. Which J radius should I order?
3 mm is the most widespread house standard in femoral access and what our sets include. Smaller radii (1.5 mm) enter fine vessels; large ones (6–15 mm) spread contact in wide vessels. If replenishing for existing sets, match the radius your unit already runs — it is printed on the dispenser label.
When straight tip?
When the wire follows a path already defined by catheter or needle — ultrasound-guided access, over-catheter exchanges — or when the unit's protocol prefers it. The J exists for the initial blind advance: the curve keeps the tip from digging into the wall.
Is this the same wire as in the femoral introducer set?
Same family and specification. The set includes one fixed configuration (0.038" or 0.021" × 45/60 cm J); this page covers the whole diameter, length and radius matrix for replenishment and own kits. Assemblers with volume: component terms on the OEM line.
