Guidewire for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), built on a nitinol core with a PTFE jacket and spiral colour striping — blue-white or yellow-black. The stripes are not cosmetic: under endoscopic vision they are the movement reference, the visual signal that the wire is advancing or retreating when the image gives no depth. Diameters from 0.025" to 0.035" and lengths of 150, 190, 260, 270, 420 and 450 cm — the extreme lengths exist because exchanging accessories in long position demands a wire that more than doubles the working channel. Tip with or without distal coil, per endoscopist preference. Nitinol supplies the kink resistance the duodenal path punishes; PTFE the glide inside the channel and the accessories riding the wire throughout the procedure.

What are the colour stripes for?
They are the movement reference under endoscopic vision: the duodenoscope image gives no depth, and the spiral pattern advancing or retreating is the immediate signal of what the wire is doing inside the bile duct. Blue-white and yellow-black do the same job; some units run both colours to tell diameters apart on the table.
Why do 420 and 450 cm lengths exist?

A duodenoscope image has no depth. The spiral pattern sliding across the field is the only immediate signal of whether the wire moves — the entire reason ERCP wires are striped and vascular wires are not.
