Closed Blood Sampling System — Adult & Paediatric

SKU: XY-CBS | Sistema Cerrado de Toma de Muestras de Sangre — Adulto y Pediátrico

In stock — Worldwide shipping

Closed blood sampling system that integrates into the pressure monitoring line and draws samples from the arterial or central venous catheter without ever opening the circuit. The traditional method discards a volume of blood at every draw to clear the line's saline; in an ICU patient sampled several times a day that accumulated waste is a documented cause of iatrogenic anaemia, and every opening of the system is a contamination entry point. The closed system removes both: an in-line reservoir withdraws the priming volume, the sampling port delivers an undiluted specimen, and the reservoir blood is returned to the patient instead of binned. Made in adult (one and two channels) and paediatric (one channel) configurations, each with the three usual transducer interfaces (Baxter, Utah, Abbott types), so it pairs with the transducer kit from this line or the one your hospital already runs.

Frequently Asked Questions — Closed Blood Sampling System — Adult & Paediatric

Why a closed system instead of drawing from the stopcock with a syringe?

Three numbers: blood discarded per purge, circuit openings per day, and sample dilution. The closed system returns the priming volume to the patient, never opens the circuit, and delivers undiluted samples from its port. With six daily draws the difference is measured in tens of millilitres per week.

Does it integrate with the transducer we already use?

Yes, as long as the interface matches. It is made with Baxter, Utah or Abbott type connectors — the same three standards as the transducer kit. Tell us which transducer your hospital runs and we confirm the interface before production.

What changes in the paediatric version?

Volume. The whole system is dimensioned so priming and reservoir move less blood, because in a neonate an adult system's discard can matter clinically. The paediatric version is its own reference, not a smaller adult.

What is the minimum order and what documentation do you provide?

State configuration, interface and estimated quantity for a quote. We provide the technical file, ISO 13485 and per-batch sterilisation documentation; local registration is handled by the distributor. Most buyers quote it together with transducer kits to consolidate shipping.

Full Description — Closed Blood Sampling System — Adult & Paediatric

Three numbers justify the closed system

Blood discarded per draw, circuit openings per day, and sample dilution. Open sampling scores badly on all three; the closed system zeroes the first two and solves the third with a dedicated sampling port that delivers undiluted specimens. On a patient with six daily draws the discard difference alone is tens of millilitres a week.

How it works in the line

The system sits between catheter and transducer. Before a draw, the reservoir pulls back the line's saline-blood mix; the sample is then taken undiluted at the port; the reservoir contents return to the patient and the line is flushed — all without a single opening.

Adult and paediatric are different references

The paediatric version is dimensioned so that priming and reservoir volumes move less blood, because an adult system's discard can be clinically relevant in a neonate.

What to confirm before ordering

- Adult or paediatric, one or two channels - Transducer interface (Baxter / Utah / Abbott type) to match your fleet - Whether it ships together with transducer kits
