Bloodline set for the extracorporeal hemodialysis circuit in adult patients. It consists of the arterial line, colour-coded red and the venous line, colour-coded blue. The arterial line carries the pump segment, the arterial chamber with pressure port, the heparin line, the sampling port, the recirculation connector and the priming line; the venous line carries the venous chamber with filter screen, the transducer protector, its own sampling port and its recirculation connector. The pump segment is made in two outer diameters, 12.1 mm and 9.75 mm and that is the first decision when specifying, because it is the part that has to seat in the machine's roller pump. Set dimensions and effective lengths (adult)

It can. It is specified to customer requirement: some centres mandate it on the venous line under their infection-control protocol, others buy it separately. State it when requesting a quote and it is fitted at the factory in the configuration you order.
How is it packaged?
Both ways, depending on the market. In South America buying practice is by individual line, so the single line is packed there. Is there a paediatric or neonatal version?
No. We currently make the adult configuration only. If your demand is paediatric, tell us with an estimated volume and we will evaluate it, but today it is not a catalogue item.
What are the lengths of each run in the circuit?
They are all in the dimension table on this page, the figure you would normally have to email a manufacturer for. In short: the arterial line carries runs of 1,580, 830, 580 and 330 mm in the 4.4 × 6.8 mm main tubing, plus the 330 mm pump segment and the 530 mm heparin line; the venous line carries 1,780, 430 and 430 mm. All lengths are effective, to a ±20 mm tolerance.
How is it sterilised and how do I check it arrived sterile?
It is ethylene oxide (EO) sterilised and sealed in sterile packaging. On receipt, what matters is pack integrity: a seal that is open, punctured or damp voids sterility even if the product looks perfect. It is single use and cannot be resterilised, the circuit has been in contact with blood and there is no way to clean it internally.
How much does one patient consume per year and how do I size an order?
A chronic hemodialysis patient has around three sessions a week, roughly 150-160 a year and each session opens a fresh set. The base calculation for an order is patients x 156 x a wastage factor. This is what separates it from the catheter, which is placed once per patient and lasts weeks: the bloodline is the consumable that sets a dialysis centre reorder rhythm, which is why it is worth quoting on an annual horizon rather than order by order.
What regulatory documentation do you provide?
The product is CE marked. We provide the technical data sheet, instructions for use and the conformity documentation needed for device registration in the destination market and for public tender files. Finished-device registration is held by the distributor in their market; we supply the manufacturing file behind it.
What do you need in order to quote?

The hemodialysis bloodline is the circuit through which the patient's blood leaves the vascular access, passes through the dialyser and returns. It is a per-session consumable: a patient on chronic dialysis gets through roughly 156 sessions a year, each one opening a fresh set. That makes it a high-volume, tightly specified item, where a dimensional error is not discovered in the warehouse but at the machine, with the patient already connected.
What each line carries
The set is two colour-coded lines and they are not symmetrical:
- Arterial line (red): the one that draws blood. It carries the pump segment, the run that seats in the peristaltic pump roller; the arterial chamber with its pressure port; the heparin line for continuous anticoagulation; the sampling port; the recirculation connector; and the priming line for flushing the circuit with saline before connecting the patient.
- Venous line (blue): the one that returns blood. It carries the venous chamber with filter screen, which catches clots and traps air before return; the transducer protector; its own sampling port; and the recirculation connector.
The red/blue coding is on connectors, clamps and caps, not just the label: it is what stops the lines being reversed when the circuit is assembled in a hurry.

This is a real market difference and we handle it at the factory. In South America, buying practice is by individual line, so the single line is packed there. In other markets the usual format is arterial and venous packed together. It changes nothing in the circuit specification, only the format, but ordering the wrong format complicates the sale to the end customer, so it is worth settling on the first order.
