The pigtail drainage catheter solves the problem of every long-dwelling drain: staying where it was placed. The distal curl forms as the wire is withdrawn and the locking string fixes it — tensioned and secured at the hub, the curl cannot straighten, and a curl that cannot straighten is a catheter that does not migrate with patient movement or bag weight. Made in 5 to 14 Fr with 25 and 40 cm lengths, depth markings and drainage holes distributed around the curl. The hydrophilic version cuts placement friction in long or difficult tracts. Supplied loose or as a set with placement accessories, for nephrostomy, collection drainage and urinary diversion. Release is deliberate: cut the string and the curl turns flexible again for withdrawal.

How does the curl lock work?
The safety string runs through the catheter and exits at the hub. Once placed, tensioning the string closes the curl rigid and it is secured at the hub. To withdraw, cut the string: the curl regains flexibility and the catheter comes out without resistance. It is the difference between a drain that survives weeks and one that turns up in the patient's bed.
When the hydrophilic version?
In long, tortuous or resistant tracts where placement friction is felt. Activated with saline it slides notably better. For routine short-tract drainage the standard performs at lower cost — most units order both in ratio.
Set or loose catheter?
The set brings placement accessories and avoids combining references; loose serves replenishment and units with an established technique. Typical set buyer: the unit starting or protocolising; loose buyer: the volume consumer.

Any pigtail curls; this one stays curled. The string runs the catheter's length, tensions at the hub, and turns the soft curl rigid. Migration — the failure mode of every unlocked drain — loses its mechanism.
